10 Reasons You Need to Join or Form a Mastermind Group

By Lethia Owens

This week I’ve had a lot of discussions with people about Mastermind Groups. I just attended my monthly mastermind meeting at the Tapestry Network and I am still amazed at how powerful this tool really is with regards to helping an entrepreneur work ON their business. All large corporations have a Board of Directors to be sure the company stays true to their mission, hit their numbers and fulfill their responsibility to stockholders. Small businesses (even sole-proprietorships) need them too.

Every small business owner, CEO, or entrepreneur (in my opinion) need a sounding board, experts on their side, and a safe haven in which to ask for and receive help and advice. The easiest and fastest way to put one together is to join/create a Mastermind Group where each member gets and gives equal doses of advice from the group. I wanted to share with you my top ten reasons why you need one.

  1. In a Mastermind Group the agenda belongs to the group and each person’s participation is key. Peers give each other feedback, help each other brainstorm new possibilities, and set up accountability structures that keep each other focused and on track. They create a community of supportive colleagues who will brainstorm together to move each member of the group to new heights.
  1. Each member gains tremendous insight, which can improve their business and personal life. A Mastermind Group is a powerful influence and resource.
  1. Here is a golden opportunity to interact and collaborate with like minded people in a non-competitive environment.
  1. Be part of a distinct community – a tribe. It is an instant and valuable professional support network. You get to team up with people who are better than you at some area of business or experience – people you can learn from.
  1. You will find and attract people who can help and support you – good match for the long term growth and success of your business.
  1. It helps you establish a strong personal foundation and see beyond what you can see yourself.
  1. Share business models with each other and brainstorm with people who are already on the same wavelength. You get a sense of shared endeavor – that there are others out there!
  1. You can walk away with a gem/perspective changed from each meeting – there’s no wasted time or energy.
  1. Experience, skill and confidence develop from the Mastermind Groups’ support freeing you to take more risks and reach for bigger goals and dreams.
  1. The Mastermind Group will help you design your business (and your life) to be the way you want them to be, not as you’ve been told things should be.

HSMmG™ – The Right Ingredient: The People

Mastermind learning

HSMmG™ is The Right Ingredient but the key is that it can’t exist in a vacuum.  It needs something incredibly essential – its members.  That’s the part that makes up the whole.

The HSMmG members are quite picky about who they let in the groups.  They keep me responsible for vetting carefully.  Prospective members have to fill out an application and answer a list of questions.  They also have to write a narrative, and essay of sorts to answer this:

Why should you be chosen for this group? How is this group a means to accomplish growth in your business? How will you satisfy the requirements to commit to this Mastermind so group members can rely on you to give to each of them as much, or more, than what you receive?  Are you willing to remain in the group if your work or personal schedule gets hectic or changes?

As the Chief Focus Officer of our groups watching allied relationships form and the chance to observe group members become each other’s colleagues and collaborators is a powerful and gratifying feeling.  I know if it’s this amazing for me it’s ten-fold for the HSMmG members.

Aren’t you ready to be a part of something better, faster, stronger than a networking or leads group?  Isn’t it time you had this ingredient in your life?

We’re fueled by creative, innovative, productive brainstorming and accountability.  The only way to rely on that is knowing you can count of your fellow members to remain committed.  And they want to, because they always get as much as they give.

HSMmG™ – The Missing Ingredient

HSMmG™ is not only The Right Ingredient, for many people it’s the missing ingredient.  It was for me for a long, long time.

For those of you who have known me for the past 16 years, know that I’ve specialized in speaking, training, and consulting to companies on workplace violence and domestic violence spillover to the workplace through my sole proprietorship, Human Resource Essential, LLC

I haven’t stopped doing this work.  Just in the last week I worked with a new client, did a national training webinar, and have set up meetings with potential clients. The work, and the people who are affected by domestic violence remain a clear and present concern.

There just also comes a time when you realize that there’s something missing…that secret ingredient.  For me it’s the High Stakes Mastermind groups, HSMmG.

It’s an incredible boost for the soul to be sitting in a group of like-minded, goal oriented professionals whose presence as a part of your life, and functioning as if  they are your board of directors is the best possible ingredient for eliminating the isolated and solitary feeling that comes with being a sole proprietor.

Even as the Chief Focus Officer (facilitator) of our groups watching allied relationships form and the chance to observe group members become each other’s colleagues and collaborators is a powerful and gratifying feeling.  I know if t’s this amazing for me it’s ten-fold for members.

Aren’t you ready to be a part of something better, faster, stronger than a networking or leads group?  Isn’t it time you had this ingredient in your life?  You deserve it, don’t you?  You just have to call me or email me to get the conversation started.  The best time is right now.

Imagine you’re about to make a grilled cheese sandwich.  You’ve been craving it for the entire morning, just waiting to have time to make your lunch.  You get the bread, the frying pan, the butter and the – oh wait… there’s no cheese.

You like your grilled cheese to have thin sliced cheddar.  But it’s gone, although the empty wrapper is in the cheese drawer.  So you look for the next hope – American cheese slices.  The kind in the thin plastic wrap.  Even those are gone.  You roll your eyes in disappointment at the refrigerator and as they move upwards you see a can of that weird cheesy substitute stuff in a spray can.  Can this really be a thing?  You spray the cheese on your bread and spread it flat with a knife.  When the sandwich is toasted you bit into it.  You frown.  This just isn’t it.  It might be “grilled cheese’ but this is not going to get you to your hunger satisfaction goal.  It just didn’t have the right ingredient.

Whether it’s your appetite, or your business needs, you will never satisfy your hunger if you don’t have the right ingredients.  At www.StephanieAngelo.com High Stakes Mastermind Groups we will leave the cheese purchases to you – and we’ll keep you supplied in ingredient HSMmG.

Our High Stakes Mastermind Group’s purpose is to allow for deep and strategic professional advisorship for women who already have a high stakes profile and/or are in high stakes professional positions.  This closed group will act as peer advisors/board of directors for each of its members without any expectation of professional therapy or licensure.  The purpose is to combat isolation, offer support and the opportunity to talk through controlled personal relationships.  Members expect accountability, brainstorming and shared expertise.

In the HSMmG you’ll get:
